The bright and inviting family home was built for a client.  They planned to put the home on the market and we worked together to create current spaces with broad appeal.  It is important to remember that if this ultimately is not your home, you have to often put some of your own personal taste aside and that is often where the help of a designer is very beneficial.  We consulted on finalizing the plans for the exterior and interior, assisted with all interior finishes and finally worked with the client, using existing and purchased furnishings and accessories to stage the home.  The first potential buyers through the home fell in love and purchased.  Staging does work!

White kitchens rarely disappoint and coupled with the warmth of this white oak flooring, the result is warm, inviting, yet bright and fresh looking.

While keeping things simple and clean, we wanted to add some wow-factor.  This large-format tile we found became the inspiration for the tones in the furnishings.

The owner had this mustard leather chair and so we pulled from those tones to stage a simple modern office space.

A simple, airy and inviting bathroom complete with gorgeous modern soaker tub.  The owner had pre-selected many of the elements for this bathroom and we just worked together to put the hard finishes and details together.

Can there ever be enough fridge/freezer space?  A 5' wide unit in this kitchen really makes a statement.  Balancing larger cabinetry around the fridge and freezer helps keep the scale balanced.  A large window over the sink and open shelving keep the kitchen from appearing too heavy with cabinetry.  The large doors of the fridge and freezer also presented a challenge for seating on that side,  and so the 3 sided open end of the island provides the space for stools.

Selecting furnishings for the space allowed the newly built home to shine.  With a lovely view to the backyard through large windows in the great room, the selection of a backless chaise, kept sightlines open while providing a peaceful spot to relax.

A large, simple laundry room with ample storage, space to hang clothing and a bright window make this a welcoming place to deal with something as mundane as laundry.

This home offered a master-on-main layout with the potential for a secondary or optional master upstairs complete with additional ensuite bathroom.  When building for an unknown buyer, the more flexibility you provide, the greater the opportunity to meet more family's needs.  For example a family with older kids may appreciate the kids upstairs and this space could be an excellent hangout/tv space for the kids, whereas a family with younger kids may want to have their bedroom on the same level.

Even stairways present an opportunity for views and bringing in light.  In this instance a stunning maple tree was situated right outside this stairwell window.  Window placement is a very important consideration to maximize sightlines and views.

Covered deck spaces are always welcome.  They provide an opportunity to increase the usable opportunities of an outdoor space both summer and in the off-season.
